I’ve been making portraits for as long as I can remember.
Cameras – Brownies, Instamatics, Polaroids – were a significant part of my childhood. Taking snapshots of friends and family was a routine pleasure. It wasn’t until my late teens that I recognized the potential of photography as a fine-art medium. That realization moved me to major in photography, and I haven’t stopped shooting since. Formal and informal, in the studio or on location – people remain my favorite subjects.
In recent years, I’ve found more creative fulfillment in the studio – sculpting light to enhance the subject and create a distinctive portrait. Although I’m tickled when a client loves a photo enough to order prints for friends and family, or responds to a portrait with something like, “that’s exactly how I hope people see me”, my greatest gratification comes from the opportunity to spend a couple of hours in the studio getting acquainted and crafting a portrait that explores, captures and celebrates a glimpse of the soul behind the subject’s face.
I hope it’s evident from my work that my studio is not the common “Portrait Studio”. Rather, my studio is a place for playful and creative collaboration. If you would like more information, please contact me at:
